Stonebond, based in Chelmsford, specialises in delivering attractive mixed-tenure developments.
Once a nursing home, which closed in 2021, work started on the Ghyllgrove regeneration project when it was still a brownfield site. The former building has been demolished to make way for 34 new mixed-tenure homes, whilst at the same time, a brand-new care facility has been erected on part of the old site to serve the needs of locals.
“Ghyllgrove is a perfect case study of effective collaboration,” said Matthew Oates, Technical Director at Stonebond. “All parties involved - LABC Warranty, Sempra Homes, the Building Control team at Basildon Council and Stonebond - have worked closely to deliver good quality new homes.
“Everyone at Stonebond working on this project, from the designers through to Senior Site Manager Steven Cole, is extremely proud to be recognised by LABC Warranty with a Site Recognition Award.
“The Ghyllgrove project means the residents of Basildon will enjoy an economic boost to the local area, and new occupants will be able to enjoy energy-efficient new homes close to the heart of the town.”
When surveyors see excellent examples of quality workmanship, and quality site management – including site tidiness, health and safety, organisation and communication – they nominate a site to be recognised with a monthly award.
These awards enter a site, and its site manager, into The Bricks. The Bricks is LABC Warranty’s annual awards to showcase the best that building in England and Wales has to offer.
