Building to LABC Warranty standards

A three-day course, delivered on-site and in-classroom, that equips learners with a firm understanding of the LABC Warranty Technical Manual and the common construction issues that lead to defects and claims.

This course is ideal for Site Managers, Assistant and Trainee Site Managers, Contract Managers, and Clerks of Work.

Pre-plaster and pre-handover snagging

Delivered partly on-site and partly in-classroom across a single day, this course equips staff with the knowledge of what to look for when conducting a pre-handover and pre-plaster inspections.

Ideal for Site Managers, Finishing Foremen, Trainee and Assistant Site Managers, and any other staff involved in the handover process.

Timber frame construction

A one-day course that takes attendees through a practical tour of LABC Warranty’s guidance on building homes with timber frames.

Learners will cover slab installation, soleplate installation, panel erection, floors, roofs, internal services, and more.

This course is ideal for anyone involved in the building of homes using timber frames.

How a house is constructed

A one-day course aimed primarily at building a solid understanding of the construction process in your non-technical staff.

The lessons involve a whistle-stop tour of an active building site, offering your staff familiarity with a range of products, techniques, and processes that are common to house building sites.

This course is perfect for learners that aren’t performing a construction role on your site, like administrators, claims handlers, and graduates.

Beginner’s guide to reading construction drawings

Attendees spend one day in-classroom with our trainers, learning how to read and interpret construction drawings. Learners are brought up to speed on the different types of drawing, hatching, scales, and how to find and take the right information from a drawing.

Ideal for employees in customer service roles, non-technical roles, graduates, or administrators.

Effective snagging for housebuilders

In this one-day course, split across a site and a classroom, attendees spend a morning on-site with 12-16 Site Managers learning what to look for and remedy before calling LABC Warranty to inspect a property.

Ideal for anyone in the construction looking for hands-on experience in the inspection and snagging process.

Toolbox talk – External walls

An hour long session, delivered on your site, covering the most common defects found in masonry, where they appear, and how you can avoid them.

Ideal for site managers, brick layers, foremen, or anyone else involved in brickwork.

Toolbox talk – Roofs

A one-hour course, delivered on site, covering the most common defects in pitched-roof construction.

Ideal for site managers, roofers, foremen, and contractors.

 

Where the courses are delivered

Depending on the course you’re interested in, courses can be delivered through a few different options, and will affect the price of the courses, and the availability of dates.

On-site courses can be delivered on sites of LABC Warranty’s choosing, or at a site of the booking company’s choice.

Courses that are delivered only in-classroom can be delivered at a location of your choosing, at a location of LABC Warranty’s choosing, or entirely through Microsoft Teams/Zoom.

Some courses will need to be split across multiple days, which can be done on consecutive days, or across consecutive weeks.

We do stress, however, that the best learning outcomes are delivered when courses are delivered in-person with our training team on hand to answer any questions as they arise and deliver hands-on examples.
