Our report provides a snapshot of the industry's response to proposed secondary legislation under the Building Safety Act referring to an extension of new home warranty cover to 15 years and mandating cover on all new homes.
Analysing data from a survey of 270 LABC Warranty customers we provide insights into the industry's views of the proposed changes and whether these are perceived to be positive, negative, or a mixture of both.
Key findings:
A significant majority of respondents were unaware of the possibility of minimum 15-year structural warranties
Most respondents were in support of extending minimum warranty periods
A majority believe longer warranties would improve residents' confidence in new-build homes
